Left Mt. Ruapehu behind in the fog again, and made our way to Matamata, where the Hobbiton set was. Despite the cloud cover, we went on the tour, given that clud cover is mostly what we've seen the past few days. What's left is very little really, but the hillside is the same, the bond, the Party Tree, etc., are all there. Half the holes are left, but are just white flat fronts with holes in them, as all the rest was set decoration, which they're not allowed to replace. Still, it was a lot of fun to really be there!

At the end of the tour, the guide showed us Bagshot Row, where they "filmed the battle for the scouring of the Shire, which didn't make the film, but maybe the Extended DVD". This would be BIG news to me, as we've always heard that it was never meant to be included. But who knows, as I've now seen on two ther signs parts of scenes we never got to see!
