Was supposed to get a massage at the hotel last night, but it was shifted around to this morning, so at 7am got a one hour massage. My neck had been bothering me way too much for my taste, and it seems to have helped. Hopped onto the ferry around 9:30am and although it was overcast at first, it cleared up. Spent the last two hours of the boat ride on the top deck watching the view, which was fantastic. Got sunburn. Not too upset about it! Landed in Picton, got a car, and made for Ashburton. Route 1 is a windy, slow trip, but it was clear, sunny, gorgeous ride along the shoreline. Saw seals all over the rocks. Got to Ashburton. No vacancies anywhere. Ha! Went to Methven instead, and found a small room for us. Dinner at Lisah's Restaurant, then sleep.

Alternate dimension time again. The terrain goes from rugged shoreline o barren wasteland to mountains to forrest to plains with little or no warning. Weird. Oh, and there are sheep. LOTS... of sheep.
